I work at a University Campus store and I just created a twitter so students can keep up with sales and news for the store. As of now only 2 students are following. What can I do to get more followers? I feel as though it is hard because my target audience is limited to only students and faculty.
Also, I have read a lot of articles but I feel because I am part of a school, it is different. Does anyone have any ideas?

Don’t use a service..thats just going to get you a bunch of followers that don’t care about your store. Plus you run the risk of getting your account banned.

Why not post some notes or flyers around the school letting students know about your new twitter account? Also, I would post something at the checkout counter so as people are checking out they see it. You could also put a slip of paper with details about your twitter account into every bag after someone purchases something.

Are you planning on running any specials or coupons, then posting these on twitter? This could be a good reason for people to follow. Have your flyers etc say something like: "Keep up to date on our sales and specials we run, follow us on twitter"

How exactly does the inventing industry work? If i were to commission a company to manufacture my product, do i have to patient it first? How can i go about advertising myself as an inventor?

it costs $48 for a 3 pc set from proactiv, and I see people selling for $30

How can social networking websights be the cause of depression among people?

I heard in the news today that social networking websights such as facebook are the cause of a lot of depression among people. If anything I thought it kept people linked together. I live alone and love it because if I actually do want someone to talk to I can just get on facebook and chat with some of my old classmates and it is just like if they are right there. Like having one big party at my house and don’t have to worry about actually asking anyone to leave hah. So what are they talking about?

Seeing as how it was on the radio, it most likely means that a small correlation was found between people who use social networking sites and depression, which would mean that people using them might be slightly more likely to develop depression. I would have to see the actual study to say for sure, but it probably means there’s a relationship, and not that its the cause. Radios/Newspapers like to make definite statements though, which often vary greatly from the truth.

If there is a relationship, it might be because some people who use those sites might also feel socially isolated – this could be because they stay on the computer rather than going out and then feel isolated OR that people who are already socially isolated may be more likely to use social networking sites in an attempt to feel it less…

Again, without the actual study that the radio was "citing" it is hard to say.. but, as I am sure you’ve heard before, don’t believe everything you hear… [studies cited in the media are rarely read correctly...]

Do social networking sites encourage youths to disclose more personal information about themselves than they would in reality?

I am a student researching disclosures of sexual assault on social networking sites. To help my research I would really like to understand what are the impacts (positive & negative) of disclosing sexual assault or abuse on social network sites in particular for young people.

Any one is capable of telling personal information about themselves in ANY type of social network. But many of us no better than to do such a idiot thing lol
